The Australian cricket non-official thread!

The initial argument was MM's inclusion in the Indian test squad and while this has gone off track a bit this is still the issue.

MM is a very good cricketer and despite a few poor ODI's in a row has a decent record and should be still an Australian ODI squad member unless his current run of poor form continues.

As for tests I believe he has had more than his chance. 19 matches and still not producing. If he were to go away and have a couple of really good domestic season in the four day game then absolutely he should come under consideration again.

We have so much talent waiting in the wings and I blame the selectors for much of our issues as they are so reluctant to blood new players. Look what happened when we finally blooded some new players? A few wins, confidence flowed on.

This infatuation with medium fast / fast medium bowling all rounders is ridiculous also and MM is s victim of that. I loved Watto but how many chances did he get despite his inconsistencies?
I don't necessarily disagree with any of what say. I was more disputing comments which were over-the-top in their criticism of Mitch Marsh. I said in my predicted squad that he would be lucky to make the squad, and probably only did so through a lack of other options.
Fellas. At the end of the day, bad players don't play cricket for Australia, let alone their state. Sure they go through their form phases, but the thing about cricket is it ebbs and flows. You can't be consistently great, and you also can't be consistently bad. In before 'but Mitch marsh is consistently bad' I think the fact he's made runs and taken wickets at an international level is pretty good in itself. We can only imagine of doing that. We'd get smacked all over the park, and then clean bowled first ball with a searing Yorker. That's 'bad'. Mitch Marsh middled that half volley on his first ball last night, I reckon he was unlucky that it went straight to a fielder. In a gap or a little higher and that was 4 runs every day of the week.
Well summed up mate

Mitch Marsh has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series with an ongoing shoulder issue. They are hoping that R&R will ensure he is right for the tour of India - Sorry lads, no allrounder has been drafted for replacement...... however, Handscombe has been drafted into the team for Lynn who has flown home to Brisbane today to have his neck looked at by a specialist.
In other news...
Starc will be rested for Perth.

Good to see Handscombe get his chance. I think poor Lynn, with his consistent run of injuries may never really crack the international stage. He certainly has the potential in the shorter forms.

I agree good to see handscomb get a chance , but terrible for Lynn , I no him well and he has bulging disks in his neck , he's a bad run with the shoulder injuries, which has moved to his neck and nerves, once he overcomes these injuries I think he could do anything in the shorter forms of the game for Australia

Lynn is 27 soon, needs to be fit n firing or his spot in line will be taken by a young McDermott or the like.

Still...if they're waiting on Cummins to come good and hit his peak at 42, Lynn has nothing to worry about ;-)

It now says on the Cricket Australia website that Marcus Stoinis has been added to the squad.

Hopefully Lynn can get himself right for the T20 series against Sri Lanka - golden opportunity to cement his spot in our T20 team at least if he's fit for that series.

Renegades off to a flyer

Heat are going to have to bat real well tonight or bowl real good for the rest of the innings

Holy Moses, that's close to the worst fielding effort I have ever seen by a team visiting Australian shores. Well, probably since the last Pakistan visit anyway. Just indescribably bad. As for that training drill they were undertaking before play....sometimes I think assistant coaches invent exercises and drills simply to justify their position.

It's Allan Border Medal night tomorrow night, really looking forward to it! Who will take home the Grumpy? :)
