Official 2016-17 NBA Season Thread

That's awesome that Klay scored 60, I'm genuinely happy for him, Mo Williams scored 52 in a game last year does that make him a superstar? Corey Brewer scored 51 a few years back, same story?

I can add to the list, Jamal Crawford, Cliff Robinson. Simply put, no they aren't and nobody said that he was one just on one scoring outburst.

Do you guys consider CP3 to be a franchise guy, never been to the conference finals?
I absolutely do consider him one. I read a pretty good article making the case for him being top 2 point guard of all time, although I think that's a bit of a stretch.

Ha ha, as soon as this game finished I was expecting someone to bring this up, where were you for the other 20 games?

I have Klay on my fantasy squad and he's still not a franchise guy. He can get shoot, but really does nothing else. Rebs, Assists, nada. Just does not create at all for others. I'm also not drinking the cool aide that he's such a 2 way player. Solid no doubt though.

How many great shooters (and Klay is a great shooter) have played alongside 2 recent MVPs? Incredible talent. Same with Klay, amazing performance tonight, pretty special, but he can't even get double teamed, who ya gonna leave open? KD, Steph? The talent is crazy on this squad.

No doubt the talent is ridiculous in GSW but I think I lean the way of klay would get more opportunities if he was the lead guy on a team and probably show more all round game much like H Barnes has done this year. Anyone who can outplay two current/previous mvps has to be considered great and hes done it to both guys while with and against, rewind to last years WCF. Have to disagree with you defensively, he always guards the other teams best guy and keeps them in front of him. Agree he gets all the space he needs when playing with Golden State but when you can lob them in from 30 feet on the regular you make space wherever you play

James Harden is another good example of a franchise player biding his time on a team with two potential MVPs to bring himself into the spotlight when he was traded. When he was coming off the bench as a supersub, it was hard to extrapolate that into being a player being in contention for MVP.

Hard to argue with that.

Chris Paul has made so many players better, he needs to get to a Conf Finals for sure, but he did take the Hornets further than AD ever has and he's taken the Clips further than anyone else ever has. This year hopefully will be the year he gets some more credit.

By your own omission, you can't name 10 players better than them. And you would still not consider them as superstars? What exactly is your definition of a superstar?
But what has 10 players got to do with it? I told you the definition of a superstar already.

LeBron, Steph, KD, Kawhi, Russ, Harden, CP3, Dray? Blake Griffin?

It gets debatable at the end. AD is probably top 10 but Cousins isn't, and they are both not superstars.

You need to understand the differences between star, franchise player, and superstar. Yes James Harden is a franchise player, but IMO he is not yet a superstar. With consistent deep playoff runs and MVP votes in the next few years he has a chance to get there, but it is not a given. Rockets lost in first round in 2012/13 and 2013/14, made conference finals in 2014/15 (Season he got MVP votes) and lost in first round in 2015/16. Superstars are a lot more consistent than this

I think the term "superstar" will never have a true definition on what it actually means and is highly subjective. I absolutely consider Allen Iverson a superstar for example, and he's never made it to the conference finals more than once in his career. It's one of those things which will never be able to be put to rest.

I completely agree.

Doesn't need the money
Wearing a sweater with himself on it
What makes a rich HOF bound retired player do this???

A couple of games I loved watching today.

CHI defeat MIA and D. Wade torching his old team for 28, great to see.

MEM wiped the floor with GS, it shows that if you take it to these guys instead of being intimidated than you can have success. Superstar Klay was 4-14 and sulking on Defense also. GS were whining about every call. I really hope they face MEM with Conley in the Playoffs this year.

Timberwolves showing some fight in the 3rd qtr v Warriors - up 10 after 3 - 3rd qtrs have usually been terrible! won the 3rd 30-18.

LaVine 5/7 from 3 so far
