FEATURED NEWS / OCTOBER 19TH, 2016
WILDCATS, COLES JOIN FORCES TO SUPPORT JDRF

The Perth Wildcats are excited to announce it has partnered with Coles to raise awareness and money for JDRF – the world’s largest organisation funding type 1 diabetes research.

From Wednesday 26 October, 93 Coles stores across Western Australia will be selling exclusive Perth Wildcats collector cards, with proceeds going to JDRF.

You will be able to collect a card for every Perth Wildcats player* PLUS there are special “Captains Club” and “Legends” editions as well.

That’s a total of 29 Perth Wildcats cards to collect!

Simply make a donation of $2 and you will be presented with a randomly selected trading card.

Once your purchase your Wildcats card, the card’s stub featuring your name will be removed and displayed in the Coles store – recognising your important contribution to JDRF.

Wilbur dolls and Perth Wildcats caps will also be available in store, with 100 per cent of proceeds going to type 1 diabetes research.

You will also notice a life-size cut-out of Perth Wildcats Damian Martin in every Coles store!

Make sure you take the opportunity to get a selfie with the cut-out version of our captain. Put it on Twitter or Instagram and tag @PerthWildcats in the post!

2,300 people are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes every year.

Type 1 diabetes is a lifelong autoimmune disease that destroys the ability to produce insulin, a hormone which is vital for life. People can be diagnosed with the disease at any age, though diagnosis is most common in children.

People with type 1 diabetes need multiple insulin injections or a continuous infusion from an insulin pump every day.

However, insulin is not a cure.

Help the Perth Wildcats support JDRF in their quest to improve lives and find a cure.

*Please note, new Wildcats signing Andre Ingram will not be in the set, while Jaron Johnson will be.

Belmont Coles had some of these out today, so I picked up a few for me and some for my son. They are nice cards.

Will try a few more Coles in the coming days to see what else is out there.

Thanks @BruzDB for those details, have updated the checklist to include those cards

Still early days, but just interesting to see how the card numbering is playing out.

The news article indicated that Jaron Johnson will have a card - so assume that is the last spot to fill in the 2015/16 season section, but it does seem odd that Jameel McKay or Angus Brandt doesn't get a card. Unless there is a series of double up numbers for 9, 10 & 11???

The Captains Club 4 missing spots look like being Paul Rogers, Shawn Redhage, Brad Robbins & Damian Martin.

The MVP sequencing is interesting. Would assume that Shaun Redhage & Jermaine Beal will take the missing spots (21, 24) for the sequence. But on that basis there would be no space in the sequence for the MVP players from the early 2000's - Paul Rogers, Rob Feaster, Rashad Tucker, Rosell Ellis - unless they are the later cards (ie. 26 - 29). Might also leave out some other MVPs - Tiny Pinder (no surprise!), but also Mike Ellis a 3x MVP player.

All will be revealed in due course - will be interesting to see how it unfolds

do they come in packs?

No, just loose. They were in big bundles like a bunch of concert tickets, so it was just a matter of going through them at the service counter (I.e where they sell smokes, etc) & grabbing which ones you wanted.

The store had Beldon didn't have all the cards (only the ones that were in my original checklist), so it might take a few visits to different Coles store to get a complete set.

The news article says it a random thing, so I guess it's going to depend on how each Coles stores want to run it I guess.

Just grabbed 2 more for my son.

Jameel McKay is #10.

I still need to track down a Ricky Grace MVP and a Casey Prather 2015/16 season.

Hit some more Coles stores today. It really is hit and miss as to what cards they have.

Have now completed the whole checklist for 29 cards in the set (see above).
However, there are double-ups for #9 - #12. How confusing!!

I have removed cards #26 = #29 from the checklist for now, but if anyone does find any cards with those numbers in there travels please advice.

Now I'm just needing card #11. Ricky Grace (Captains Club 2002 - 2005) to complete the set.

Good luck to all who are collecting this set.
