The Australian cricket non-official thread!

Hopefully at least one of Bancroft, Handscomb and Head has a massive Sheffield Shield season and forces their way into the team. All three are in the top 10 SS run scorers from the last three seasons, so they have some runs on the board, but I reckon they if any of them start the Shield season with a bang they could find themselves in the Test team before the summer's out.

Tonight's ODI bowling stocks... Starc, Zampa and Lyon. Faulkner and Henriques the other pace bowlers. Does that seem like an odd choice to anyone else? I would've thought they would pick 2 specialist pace bowlers.

Not when Starc is taking all the wickets all the time, I don't think we can say we have 2 specialist quick bowlers right now

Fair effort from the Aussies last night in the T20 vs Sri Lanka!

Australia's 3/263 was the highest T20I team score and equal-highest score in any T20.
Maxwell's 145* was the second-highest T20I individual score.

Not a bad move getting Maxi to open :)

RIP Max.

One of the faces of Wide World of Sports when there were only three commercial channels and no pay tv. Magazine sport is long dead but Max brought us it all. Hell, AFL was still exotic.

Also a great 12TH MAN caricature. Richie...give me back my job! Lol. Never understood why he got turfed from cricket commentary team. Douches like Brayshaw and the like make Tangles sound positively great.

Oh and was a handy bowler.

Slip, slop, slap, sunnies and hats folks. Melanoma is a prick of a thing.

RIP

When Shaun Pollock referenced the "Powerade Power-play" statistics during the first innings of the Australia vs South Africa ODI last night, a little bit more of my cricket passion died inside. Is there anything at all that ISN'T sponsored or commercialised in this bloody sport any more?

The result itself was not really surprising, given our underwhelming and inexperienced bowling attack. I did have a juvenile giggle though when I saw that Quentin de Kock made a blazing 178 in South Africa's reply. Of course, it is important to get de Kock out early :)

QLD Bulls on top of the ladder where they belong

In all serious though, i have lost so much interest in cricket the last couple of years that i only discovered that the comp started today by accident

no one mentions cricket now days in general conversation, seems to be on a severe back-burner in every one minds. Quite sad really

What a fantastic game it was! The Warriors bowlers did very well to steal a tie, while the Redbacks definitely have some very good young players. I thought Wes Agar bowled quite well on debut, as did Cameron Valente.

Lol@australiaZ

Seriously. When Hastings is your #1 you're in Big strife.

How we didn't defend that total...ha!

I hate to see inexperienced sportspeople thrown to the wolves, which is what has happened during this series. The "sink or swim" philosophy is bollocks anyway, as youngsters will generaly have experienced heads to call on in a crisis and not be abandoned completely.

This tour could be the making of Mennie, Tremain and Worrall - although I believe it was unforgivable to allow the first two gentlemen to open the bowling together in game two. Talk about lambs to the slaughter.

On a positive note, Australia's batting looks in good order!

I just don't get CA sometimes.

I get the feeling they're happy to take $$$ to play this series but rest stars or shield them for test series here.

Still, I want to see the best sides play.
