Any chance you can put them in alphabetical order Naz?

Not sure how hard that is for you.....

I am trying to check if I have any different ones you don't have, makes it very hard when they are not in order...

The Qld ones are very difficult to work out how many there are as they kept adding to them over the years.

Hi Naz,

There should not be any questions regarding the Qld cards.

As I have mentioned to you and I think a couple of others who have enquired with me, I was able to buy from a collector who only collected State Cards and has now sold his collection that Queensland Cricket issued a set each season.

For some seasons, instead of producing a complete new set they would simply produce new cards for newly contracted players into the squad. Players who had retired at the end of the previous season were removed while newly contracted players cards were issued with the following years cards.

This was done so as to cut down on costs. The card that was used for a player for the first season and the next was exactly the same (both front and back). Sadly due to cost restraints no State Association is prepared to produce these cards any longer.

I can confirm that this is correct following discussions with people who were connected with Qld Cricket during the period the cards were issued as well as the Collector who I bought the cards from and also from other collectors who had done some research.

This also applies to the Victorian cards. I have spoken with a researcher who was able to provide me with information on the early Victorian cards.

If anybody has any questions regarding State Issued Cards, I am happy to help them.

Kind Regards
Chris

I have a few questions around the Victorian cards - hopefully someone can clarify please.

Victorian 91/92 & 92/93 Easton sets you have listed - are the images the same for the players in both sets, ie Dodemaide, Hughes, Jones, O'Donnell & Reiffel? If you have any scans of these, that would be great.

Victorian 93/94 1st and second sets, again is there a variance to the images in these with players accross both sets. Dodemaide, Jones, Phillips, Reiffel & Warne are in what is listed and I was not aware of a second set, so would like some images if possible.

Victorian "Error Cards" - what are these? Images please....

Heads up too Naz, on all the double player cards eg VIC 98/99 card 20. Fitzpatrick/Mason, you have doubled up with cards listed two and sometimes three times. Appears to only have happened on the dual cards.....

Great job on this, excellent to compare lists & colate to get a more accurate picture of what is out there.

These sets are extremely hard to put together, with QLD in particular adding cards at different stages over the course of the year & no real records were kept to say who was produced.

I have found a few cards I didnt know existed & I will add a few more in the next post to the list you have compiled that I have in my collection.

Thanks Naz, great job with this.

Hi Daniel,

As I have provided Nazim with the information that I have acquired through discussions and correspondence with fellow collectors and researchers I will address these issues for you. As I also have most of the early cards I will provide scans.

Firstly I will clarify the Victorian Cards.

The 1st attachment will be the 1991-92 Easton Sports 1st Set. I have spoken to numerous people about this set and nobody can provide much information about it. I have identified through research that this set is a 1991-92 issued set. There is also a second set produced in the same year so that's how there comes to be a second set. There are only the 3 cards in this set that I am aware of.

The 2nd attachment will be the 1991-92 Easton Sports 2nd Set.

The 3rd attachment will have the 1992-93 Easton Sports set.

The 4th attachment will have the 1993-94 1st Set. I have only 1 of these cards. I am on the lookout for the remainder of the set.

The 5th attachment will have the 1993-94 2nd Set. I have been told that there are differences between the two sets.

The error cards are from the 1995-96 set. Some have an error on the front and some on the back. I will attach the ones I have. I only have scans of the fronts though.

Naz, can address the doubled up cards for you.

Victoria 98/99 Full set - this is correct, there are 2 sets. One with stats and one with picture of the 99 World Cup winning squad.

In regards to the 4 card "Bushranger Ammo" postcard size set from the early 2000's there is actually 8 cards in the set. There is 1 for Darren Berry, Ian Harvey, Damian Fleming, Matthew Mott and Clea Smith
Matthew Elliott, Paul Reiffel and 1 other who I don't know.

In relation to the 22 Pogs/Milk Bottle Top Disk set from 2000-01 I don't have any information on this set.

With regards to the Bushranger Ammo and Pogs/Milk Bottle Top Disks I don't know if these were issued by Cricket Victoria or by somebody else. The Pogs are a Pura Milk promo so I am not 100% sure.

The attachments will now follow then I will address the Qld and WA cards.

I hope that this will clarify for all the mystery surrounding Victorian State Issued Cards.

Kind Regards
Chris

Thanks for that, there is alot more of them than i thought then. Oh well, something else top look out for I guess!

The "Bushranger Ammo" cards i have are numbered to 4 so guess they must have added some later.

The POG / Milk cap set I had sent to me direct from Cricket Victoria when I asked if they had any cards available for that season, so definately released by them.

Here are my comments on the Qld and WA Cards that you have queries about.

Qld

00-01 - 01/02
Mitchell Johnson - Debuted against New Zealand in a tour game in 2001. Would like to see a scan of the card.

02/03 - 03/04
Craig Phillipson - debuted late in 2003-04
Nathan Rimmington - debuted in 2006-07
Shane Watson - debuted for Qld in 2004-05
Would like to see scans of all 3 cards

05/06
Matthew Hayden - should be on the checklist. Naz can answer this one.

06/07
Melissa Bulow - Would like to see a scan of the card.

08/09
Ryan Harris - should be on the checklist. Naz can answer this one.

Western Australia
Quit 97/98 Womens set
Cherie Bambury
Avril Fahey
Zoe Goss (scan of card would be great)
Angele Gray
Julianne Langley
Zoe Goss - Bradman Tribute Match

I have all of these except the Zoe Goss one. Again I am not sure if this set is a WA State Issued Card or one done by Quit as a Promo Card.

As mentioned a scan of the cards would be great.

Kind Regards
Chris

Hi Dan,

No problems at all. Happy to clarify this for you. It has taken me quite a while and quite a bit of cash to be able to put these sets together.

I do have some spares listed under the For Sale/Trade section if you are interested.

Cheers
Chris

Chris - thank you for your wonderful contribution and sharing of knowledge. Feels like OCT back in the day when Ron (COMPO) was still around. Collectors sharing obscure details and information which would have been hard to come by any other way. Very much appreciated mate. You're a LEGEND :)

Daniel - apologies for the double-ups. It's all very deliberate (though granted quite misleading) to ensure other sections of my site work as designed. You see - with dual cards, I like to keep tabs on signatures obtained by the 2-3 players featured. If I list the card once only and I end up getting 1 of the 2-3 signatures, it's easy to lose track of as a card that still needs a signature on it. Also, by having multiple entries, I'm able to keep tabs on cards on which each player has ever featured. For example, if you go to the following page ...

http://www.nazimcricket.com/visual_chklist.php

and in the player search - type in say "Michael Slater". You will see among the other cards he appears on, the Futera Elite dual card will appear. In the same vein, if you search for "Mark Taylor", the card will appear there as well. This all appears more logical when you look at my checklists which are colour coded for my benefit, but having said all this, I will refine and fine-tune some of these things along the way and see if I can't do better. In the meantime, I hope you and others will find the checklists somewhat useful. I will work on adding the sets / cards you have mentioned.

In editing the hundreds of cards into alphabetical order, I must have made some errors, such as the missing the Hayden card etc. As soon as I have some time, I will again go through the checklists Chris has kindly provided and rectify those errors as well. Very much a work in progress. The whole spreadsheet thing was done in about 4 hours and involved researching the different ways to code in PHP language which is not my primary skillset :)
