2014/15 A-league cards?

Here is the list from our box break of 26 packs, with 10 cards per pack. Share my pain!

Apologies if there are any typos with names on the list.

No Barisha for Melb Victory which was a surprise- but then again maybe there is, who knows!

Can only hope that the cricket cards later this year are a lot better.

You can add these that I have;
WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS - Shannon Cole
PERTH GLORY- Jack Duncan
WELLINGTON PHOENIX - Albert Riera
BRISBANE ROAR - Jean Carlos Solorzano
NEWCASTLE JETS - Ben Kennedy, Samuel Gallaway
MATILDAS - Clare Polkinghorne

Thanks for the posting. This collection is starting to look bigger than just 10 players per A-League side.

An official checklist would really help some time soon.

Most interesting....:cautious: The compulsory questions that form part of the entry form are most intriguing:
  • Did you collect official tournament stickers during the 2014 World Cup?
  • Would you be interested in collecting stickers for an FFA (A-League & Socceroos) sticker book?
I thought that the sticker approach was Panini's area of specialisation.

For those interested in the statistics and economics and Panini's approach, the following article in the Economist is a interesting read, 'The economics of Panini football stickers', although some of you may have already read it

Yes Panini a good Italian company they flooded market with Seria A stickers for years Also have an American Panini Arm that does NFL

Some good points made with new Australia A league cards

The fact that the set is average and may have some mistakes could give it an unknown value or as most one of sets will be long forgotten – might put one away seeing they also have little tear off section to open like a toy
Admit when I turned over pack looking for words special insert card I in 4 packs etc. soon realised their wouldn't be an Archie Thompson Inaugural A League Melbourne Victory Superstar card...
The card set lack that high class insert or signature card certainty a different quality of card yet not being numbered for once is not an issue and the First Edition on back of cards may in time make them valuable if this company survives - sometimes the corny cards no body wants are sought after

AUSTRALIA SOCCEROOS Mile Jedinak, Mark Milligan
WESTERN SYDNEY WANDERERS – Mark Bridge
MELBOURNE VICTORY – Adrian Leijer, Guilherme Finkler
PERTH GLORY- Richard Garcia
MATILDAS – Teresa Polias , Stephanie Catley

Are these gaming cards? Like Match Attax style? As this would explain the lack of numbering. Match Attax never used to have numbers, as if the cards were face down when playing the game, people could memorise the numbers and know what their opponent had. Eventually Match Attax start numbering the fronts of the cards to help out collectors.

Don't appear to be. Match Attax packs normally have a fold out insert within the packs explaining how the game works. Nothing like that in these packs, or any reference to a game on the web site.

If they are aiming at kids and being more digital, then an a simple online game like AFL teamcoach would really hook them in, and probably even those of us who are still young at heart :)

As we all know.....anything is possible with money and time. :)

On the surface what you say is sounding correct, but on the other hand maybe slightly too matter of fact. This tap n play product may well sell only 10% of the amount they made, which is a by-product of them basically not knowing what they were doing.

By asking for another card companies help they may have produced a better product and therefore sold more, meaning the profits they gain, even by giving away a 'piece of the pie’, would have been greater. For the other trading card company, they lend their expertise for a small cut and basically they are getting paid from a collection for consulting … no license fees, print costs, no risk and a relationship with a card company that could grow into something worthwhile.

Or … as in many other industries the players within the same industry work together on a ‘you scratch my back, I scratch yours’ basis on what they bring to the party, so the consumer gets what he wants.

You are right about the players in most industries having some working together, that's why they have trade associations. With Trading cards unfortunately not, the biggest publisher(s) would rather no one else existed. Great lengths are gone to to obstruct consumer choice, the recent attempts to ban Leaf USA from attending the trade summit as an example.

True to his word Neil from TapNplay sent through quite a few complimentary packs which arrived today. :) :)

They were sent express post, so that would have been an expense exercise from the East Coast to WA. So very much appreciated.

Quite a few new cards which was great. I have provided some further observations to Neil and also included Matt26, simply as a way to keep improving future releases.

Interest in this series may have dropped off, but if anyone wants me to update the checklist that I compiled based on what we have found to date, and the postings from others :) ,then happy to do that and re-post - but only if people are genuinely interested.

BTW you may already be aware of this, but the Tim Cahill card that was in the FourFourTwo magazine was an exclusive, and the Socceroo common card is quite different. So a little bonus for some.

Re Mike message above Tim Cahill Card info - thank for the heads up re FFT appreciated

Probably just joining the chorus, buuuuut... grabbed 5 packs of these today with my footy cards, not knowing anything about the set, hands down the worst cards I've ever bought. Rubbish design, cheap flimsy stock and horrible collation. 3 of the 5 packs had exactly the same cards, while the other two were also the same.

Makes Select look a million dollars with garbage product like this.

Thanks to Neil at TapNPlay, details of the cards printed for this series have been provided. The set comprises 174 base cards, however 2 additional cards have been confirmed in packs opened. Thanks to Sergb for his work in assisting in confirming cards, and of course other forum users who posted details earlier.

I have prepared the attached checklist to assist others collecting this series. Anyone interested in swapping cards please PM either myself or Sergb and we have happy to help out others looking for cards. We have found that some cards are harder to find than others, particularly Melb City.
