As some of you may be aware, I recently won an auction lot from Leski Auctions and had no real idea what I was getting.
I did know I had won the following:
1965 Scanlens "Cricketers" [10/40 + 1 spare]
1958 Australian Licorice "Test Cricket Series" [1/32]
Bradman - The Don Declares set of 8 cassette tapes in folder
Cricket Books [x4].
I mainly bid on this lot for the cards to start me off on my set chase so here is what I got:
#1 David Sincock (Australia), #2 Ian Chappell (Australia), #4 Barry Shepherd (Australia),
#12 A Rare Cricket Photo, #14 Bob Simpson (Australia), #17 Brian Booth (Australia),
#19 Micky Stewart (England), #30 Alan Connolly (Australia), #31 Wes Hall (West Indies)
#34 Basil Butcher (West Indies), #12 A Rare Cricket Photo, Peter Loader (England)
#26 Lindsay Kline (Australia)
I have had a look at a fair few of these cards over the last few years so I have to say I am VERY impressed with the condition of the cards I got.......I was not expecting them to be in such great condition! One thing was unhappy about was that they were brilliantly packed and nicely sealed inside a team bag WITH AN ELASTIC BAND AROUND THEM! Needless to say a very stern email was sent to the appropriate person.....lucky for them it was not tight and no damage was done!
Two questions for you guys:
1. What year and set is the Peter Loader card from and
2. Considering what these are selling for on eBay, should I sell them and make some $$$ to put towards other set chases or should I collect the set (knowing it will cost a fair bit)?
I should note the cricket books I got were worth a read and the Bradman Tapes and album were in like new condition!
Look forward to your responses
